Join us for a 12km walk exploring the natural history of the Central Fells.

We head along part of the Cumbria Way past Stonethwaite before branching off at a sheepfold through Lingy Woods, where the engineered path is strenuous at times before emerging near Dock Tarn.

We will then ascend Great Crag 1443ft (440m), "…one of those modest fells which seldom seem to invite attention, and few know it by name, yet many are they who have trodden its lower slopes on the popular path of the pilgrims journeying to Watendlath from Rosthwaite" - Wainwright.

We descend gently to Watendlath Tarn and farm before returning via the bridleway over the watershed at Puddingstone Bank, descending to Rosthwaite.
